I am going to be getting my first digital camera soon, and I wanted to know if the Sony DCR VX1000 (or 2000) is more proffessional looking, or if the cannon XL! is a better choice.

Also, If any of you know of any lanses or adapters to make either of these have a wide sceen look I would appreciate knowing.

I shouldnt worry about buying a widescreen (panamorphic??) lens. When you edit the fil just chop the top and bottom of the screen off. Looks fine.

Now--I am not a video fan at all. However, I shot a Doc on the XL1. I didn't like it at all. The reason is the lens--at its widest it is still far to close. Also the balancing of tha camera is all wrong. I saved it from a nose dive while it was on a tripod. I say go with the VX2000 or the GL1 the XL1s little brother. Good Luck
